If you've ever searched for a math app for your child, you know the problem. Most apps are either glorified flashcard drills with no structure, or they're loaded with ads, in-app purchases, and accounts that collect your child's data.
I'm Mike, a San Mateo dad of two kids — ages 9 and 11. After trying nearly every math app on the App Store, I decided to build my own. That app is called Tekimei Math, and it just launched — free to download.
The problem with most math apps
My kids needed more math practice. I knew that. So I did what every parent does — I went to the App Store and searched "math for kids."
What I found was frustrating. The free apps were cluttered with ads that popped up in the middle of my kids' sessions. The paid apps locked basic features behind subscriptions. Almost none of them had any real structure — they would just throw random questions at my kids without any sense of progression or mastery.
I wanted something that felt like a real curriculum. Something that would start where my child actually was, build systematically, and show me — and them — exactly what they had mastered. I couldn't find it. So I built it.
What makes Tekimei Math different
Most math apps treat every session like a random quiz. Tekimei Math is built around a structured 9-level curriculum that takes kids from basic counting all the way through algebra — in a logical, sequential order that actually builds mastery.
What's included in Tekimei Math
- 9-level curriculum from counting to algebra
- Mastery tracking — know exactly where your child stands
- Daily streaks to build a consistent math habit
- No ads. No accounts. No data collected.
- Easy and Medium levels free forever
Why no ads or accounts?
Because your child's learning time should be focused on learning, not on ads. And your family's data is your own business.
I built Tekimei Math to work completely offline with no account required. You download it, you hand it to your kid, and they start learning. That's it.
Who is it for?
Tekimei Math is designed for kids ages 5–12. It works great as a daily supplement whether your child is in public school, private school, or homeschooled. Parents who want their kids to get ahead in math — or catch up — will find the structured curriculum especially useful.
Homeschool families in particular have told me they love having a structured math tool that maps to a real curriculum progression, rather than random practice that goes nowhere.
Try it free today
Easy and Medium levels are completely free — no time limit, no account needed. If you want to unlock Hard difficulty and Lightning Round mode, there's a one-time $2.99 upgrade. No subscriptions, ever.
I'd love for you to try it and let me know what you think. Every piece of feedback I've received has made the app better, and I read every message at hello@tekimei.com.
